It appears you got a good one. You really made quick progress with the clean up. It looks great after only one day's work.

Thanks! With all of the various concoctions posted about for cleaning these things, I've found that denatured alcohol, allowed to soak, cleans these rifles up the best.

Re: New IMA Snider. Lots of photos, now!

Norm, I still blame your excellent posts on your short Sniders for me ending up with this rifle. I am within a two hour drive of the IMA store and it is going to take some willpower to keep from...

Re: New IMA Snider. Lots of photos, now!

KC, You, Sir, have my admiration and esteem on several different fronts. First, you are lucky. That Snider is a gem right out of the box. The blue below the wood line is amazing. Second, you are made...

Re: New IMA Snider. Lots of photos, now!

My commendations on just cleaning and nothing more, it certiainly doesn't need any improvement. Now you really need a Brit Snider to add to the collection for comparison.

Update: IMA is going to let me swap the bayonet for one that fits. I'm leaving for the store in about an hour, rifle in hand. I hope this doesn't get expensive.

Re: New IMA Snider. Lots of photos, now!

It wasn't as expensive as I feared. I only came home with the book+DVD and an airsoft stg 44. The store isn't very big, but they pretty much have one of everything there.ETA:  I got a bayonet that...

Re: New IMA Snider. Lots of photos, now!

KC10Boom, I was going to suggest that you can fix the bayonet socket by forcing a mandrel down it to force out the dent. Of course, if you don't have a mandrel, your solution is probably the most...

Re: New IMA Snider. Lots of photos, now!

While I'm sure a mandrel would have been muuuuch less expensive than my trip to the IMA store was, I did end up with one that fits well. But man... those Nepali bayonets are ROUGH when compared with...

Re: New IMA Snider. Lots of photos, now!

KC, At the risk of being exiled to the Bayonet forum from wence none may emerge again, I concur about the Nepali bayonets. Each is an adventure in fitting, a veritable firearms lottery of 'will the...

Re: New IMA Snider. Lots of photos, now!

There's a school of thought among the Arizona shooters that firing the gun with the bayonet mounted (and your pith helmet cocked slightly to the left) will make these guns shoot to point of aim at 50...
